ENERGY STARS

Non-fossil fuels made from corn, sugar cane, and biomass are more widely used each year, along with alternative energy generation techniques, including solar, wind, and geothermal energy which can feed the grid while reducing our reliance on coal and oil.

WHERE WE ARE

In 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a report that effectively silenced the skeptics: climate change is real. Increased droughts, wildfires, storms, and floods have been linked to our pollution of the atmosphere. Millions of the worlds poorest people, including those living in flood-prone areas of Bangladesh, are particularly vulnerable to these climatic alterations, although they did little to bring them about.

WHERE WE ARE GOING

Energy issues are global issues. While Russia and Canada squabble over oil reserves under the Arctic and seemingly endless conflict continues in the Middle East, the next UN Climate Change Convention is scheduled for December in Bali.
